Whats been going on!?

Hello All!

First of all… SORRY! (again) for failing to keep up to date with my posts! These last 6 months seem to have gone by in a bit of a blur. The year didn’t start off great for us and it has took me until now to get my life back on track. I am back and looking forward to posting again! I have always set myself the goal of publishing one post a week but it never seems to happen, therefore I am not making any promises and we will just see how it goes (so bear with me). I am not sure how many of you actually read my posts, but writing about my life and creative goings on helps me to keep a log of what I’ve been up to – plus I love sharing my makes! Hopefully it will inspire some of you to give it a go, or you can just be nosey – I really don’t mind either way!

In May I wrote a post about my pledge to Me-Made-May and what I hoped to achieved during that month. It is safe to say that everything I set out to do didn’t happen! I still hope to use The Curated Closet to get a better understanding of my style, but I am just going to work through it as and when I have some spare time. I will still try and share my progress, as I know some of you were quite interested.

Ok, so I think I have just babbled on long enough about what I haven’t managed to do … so lets turn this around and talk about what I HAVE I been up to!

I have been sewing a little bit and I have recently finished the Papercut Patterns Sapporo coat as some of you may have seen on my Instagram account. The fabric was from John Lewis (bought a while ago now) and I used some cotton that I had in my fabric stash for the lining. The coat turned out a little big for me, so it looks like I am going to have to make another one! Happy days, as that means I can do some more fabric shopping (Sorry Ryan)! Lessons learnt from this make – Always check the finished garment measurements on the pattern!!

Not crafting related but needs to be mentioned. Bletchley Park! We took dad (and mum) to Bletchley Park for fathers day – it was fab. We are one of those families that listens to everything on the audio tour and we read all of the information we can find. We were so into learning about everything that we are going to have to go back as we didn’t have time to see it all! I love a good family day out and I love spending time with my family. It was so interesting and I would definitely recommend a visit.

Another place I visited recently was Stoneywell with one of my best friends, Danni. The house is only a 20 minute drive away from where I live and I didn’t know it existed. Stoneywell is an Arts and Crafts home. It is a quirkly little place! When you arrive in the car park a little mini bus picks you up and takes you to the plot of land where the house is located – it is only a short drive away. There are regular tours of the house where the story of the building, family, furniture and garden are explained. The gardens are stunning and we even had a little walk around the woodland area. We also had a cup of tea and cake in the cafe (gluten free – for those of you who don’t know I am Ceoliac – I was so happy they had gluten free options!) before taking the minibus back to the carpark. It was such a cute morning.

On another note – In two weeks time I am taking PATTERN DRAFTING COURSE for five days…AHHH! I decided to take the course because I would love to have a set of my own blocks and I can’t wait to learn how to design my own patterns (exciting). I will let you know how it goes, hopefully I will be confident enough to design some of my own clothes!

I think that is it for today, just a little update! As I mentioned earlier I am not going to promise to post once a week like I normally do, but I am going to try my best to post more often!

Thanks for reading as always!
